Running is like crack, which is awesome.

Filed under: Uncategorized — David Brown @ 8:02 pm

I have been running habitually for a few months, and the more I do it, the more I love it.  I plan on being in “race shape” soon and running a half marathon with my girlfriend.   Running is also the primary motivator for me too not start smoking again, which like crack, is addicting.

Turning Point?

Filed under: Education, Religion, future — David Brown @ 2:50 pm

The day came today.  I went to a meeting to discuss my future placement with ISU as a senior and future teacher.  The question was officially asked on paper; “Where is your home?”  It hit me hard, and is a question that I faced with hesitation.  The school wants to know where I want to live after I graduate.

I don’t know if what I wrote was correct, but what it was is 205 N Linden.  My life has evolved since I’ve been here, found meaning, and this has become my home.  I still have a lot of questions to answer like where does God want me, what will happen immediately after I graduate, and will I still have the Love I have found in this place.  I’ve seen people leave and become disconnected, and I am sure if I do that I will regrettably also become disconnected.  But if I stay will it be the right thing?

I know that I want to do God’s will.  And for that I am willing to go anywhere, sacrifice anything.  The future is now, and I am going to take my steps with the Love.

Synthesizer fishing

I’ve been in the market for a synth now for a few weeks.  I love music, and i want to make it but with more than a guitar and drums.  Therefore a synthesizer.  I am looking for one that has the capability to put down a drum beat that I create and then I want to layer on top of it my own choices of instrumentation, with the unique sounds and capabilities of the synthesizer.  And it will be brilliant.  I will keep looking, what I like so far is the Korg Microkorg.  It has the voice modulator and other sweet tools.  I’m excited.

Now you can know

what charms old David.. This is to let you know what I find interesting to the world.  I’ve seen it all, and now I’ll report.  If by some fluke of nature I stumble across a new bit of info that catches my eye, well this is a good place for that too.

Headphones

I recently spent some time with old friends whom I love and respect, and who told me an intriguing story.  Kyle experienced an evening in New York at a small club his sister and brother in law took him too.  He described a walk in the street and discretely being led into an unlabeled black door off of the road to expose a hall that lead to a room crammed with 300 people gathered to hear David Bazan in his side-project, Headphones.  He listened in amazement and had a tearful moment as he heard the songs for the first time.  Kyle then introduced me to the music and his instincts were on; the debut album is shockingly good.  I love these moments.
